My cat doesn't like any other combs, brushes or even those glove things with bumps on them but she likes this comb and it gets out a lot of fine hairs. Granted, she's a short-hair so I'm not using it on knots like a longer haired cat can have, but i think if you use this every day, it would help prevent those knots and even untangle them once they start.
